
An early morning shootout on Tuesday between a gunman and Phoenix cops landed the shooter in the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. The isolated incident unfolded around the vicinity of 19th Avenue and Bethany Home Road at approximately 6:47 a.m., sparking an immediate police response.
Officers arriving at the scene were met with gunfire when they confronted a man reportedly wielding a weapon. FOX 10 Phoenix quoted Phoenix Police Sgt. Brian Bower, "That man fired at officers, officers returned fire. I can confirm the man was struck. He is being treated at a local hospital right now with non-life-threatening injuries." Fortunately, no officers or community members sustained any injuries during the confrontation.
