In a sudden turn of events, The Turkey Leg Hut, a staple in Houston's culinary domain, has fired its co-founder Lyndell "Lynn" Price amidst allegations of financial mismanagement. In a statement obtained by FOX 26 Houston, Nakia Price, Lynn's estranged partner and co-owner of the restaurant, detailed the turmoil within the establishment, citing "potential financial mismanagement" that led to a comprehensive review of the company's finances and a subsequent delay in payroll for a two-week period.
This finance-centric upheaval saw Lynn Price take to social media to publicly announce his dismissal, sharing an email from Key Synergies, the consulting firm engaged by the Turkey Leg Hut. The email, which states Price's termination, also reportedly signaled the end of employment for several other staff members, a claim echoed by reports on what was formerly known as Twitter, as shared by Chron. "It is with regret that I must inform you that your employment with Turkey Leg Hut is being terminated, effective immediately," read the email included in Price's Instagram post.
Amid the organizational shakeup, Nakia Price has committed to not only maintain full transparency but also reassured the integrity of the operational procedures moving forward. Six employees were laid off in the fallout, with Nakia expressing intentions to hopefully reinstate them later in the year. The co-owner's resilience is a testament to her dedication to the brand and its future, despite the personal and professional struggles.
The acrimonious split between Lynn Price and Holmes doesn't exist within a void; the couple was known to be separating in 2023. Holmes accused Price of abuse last year, stating in an Instagram post, "From the time we wake up, til the time we close our eyes each night, we are literally in a fight for our peace and sanity," as mentioned by Chron. The latest development strains what had been one of Houston's dynamic business duos, even as the restaurant had been looking to expand operations beyond its original location.
Both Price and Holmes, alongside Key Synergies, have been approached for comment by Chron, and further insights into the situation remain pending. With the Turkey Leg Hut's popularity undiminished and its plans for expansion still advertised, how these corporate and personal upheavals will ultimately affect the brand's trajectory is yet to unravel fully in public view.
