LAPD Cracks Down on Drug Operations Hidden Within Homeless Camp, Seizes Cocaine and Makes Arrests in Los Angeles

In an operation striking at the heart of drug crime camouflaged amid the city's homelessness crisis, LAPD officers have made significant arrests for narcotics sales within a homeless encampment. Conducting a search warrant on January 31, 2024, in a Los Angeles neighborhood known for illegal drug activities, the investigators zeroed in on a recreational vehicle stationed on South Beacon Avenue, tucked beside a homeless camp.

As per the LAPD News Release, the bust led to the confiscation of substantial quantities of cocaine, an unregistered handgun, and a trove of cash. Disguised as a living quarter for the unhoused, the RV was instead being used purely for drug transactions and consumption. Seized within were 439.4 grams of powder cocaine, 29.2 grams of cocaine base, and more than $147,000.

The operation culminated in the arrest of two local men, Tony Walden, 55, and Marlon Price, 56. Both are facing charges related to possession and sale of narcotics. Walden's charge is cited as "11351 H&S: Possession of Cocaine for Sale" and Price is booked under "11351.5 H&S: Possession of Cocaine Base for Sale." The hefty charges reflect the serious nature of the narcotics found at the scene.

The Los Angeles Police Department is reaching out to the public for further information on this case and similar activities.
