In a violent encounter that erupted in University City last week, gunfire claimed the life of one man and left another wounded, the San Diego Police Department reported. The shooting incident took place on the evening of February 17, when a call about a male shot in the street at Nobel Drive and Lombard Place was received by authorities at approximately 8:41 PM. Responding to the scene, officers discovered two Hispanic males suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, as relayed in an official statement.

Sadly, the 35-year-old male found in the street, later identified as Mexican citizen Christian Espinoza Silver, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The other victim, a 39-year-old Hispanic male found near a stopped car outside an apartment parking garage entrance, remains in stable condition, but his name remains withheld. Wearing a camouflage jacket and black pants, the suspect fled the scene on foot, westbound, after opening fire on the victims who appeared to have been in a car together at the time of attack.

Homicide detectives now leading the charge on the investigation have indicated signs of a targeted attack. With an unknown assailant at large and details scarce, the San Diego Police urge the public to step forward with any information.
