A South Side Chicago neighborhood erupted in violence last night when a 24-year-old man was shot inside an apartment. The victim, whose identity has not been released, was caught in a hail of bullets around 10:01 p.m. in the 1500 block of E. 67th Place, according to the Chicago Police Department.
Police reports indicate the young man was indoors when he was struck by gunfire. Severely injured, the victim, was transported by the Chicago Fire Department to the University of Chicago Medical Center. At the hospital, he is said to be in serious condition, coping with a gunshot wound to the left leg, the police report detailed.
As of now, authorities have not taken anyone into custody in relation to the shooting. The motive and the circumstances that led to this violent episode remain a mystery, leaving room for speculation and community concern.
