A man in Southwest Miami-Dade was left bleeding and hospitalized after a supposed good deed turned viciously against him. According to CBS Miami, a stranger approached the victim in a parking lot asking for a ride—despite the man not being a rideshare driver—and then brutally stabbed him before hijacking his car.
The violent encounter took place around 5:58 p.m. Saturday when the victim was preparing to drop off the individual. Miami-Dade Police were called to the scene in the 9300 block of Southwest 4th Lane and quickly found the man to shortly transport him to a nearby hospital. The suspect, who seemed to coolly take control of the situation, managed to easily escape with the victim's vehicle.
Neighbors reported alarming disturbances around the time of the crime. “Someone was stabbing another person,” reported one eyewitness, in a statement obtained by NBC Miami. She described the frantic efforts of the community to provide aid to the victim before the authorities arrived. She reflected, "I'm shocked,” adding, “I never thought I would see something like this in my life.”
Indeed, the neighborhood’s swift action may have prevented a more tragic outcome. The woman went on to say, “If they weren't we would've probably found a body on the street.” As investigation efforts ramp up, the MDPD Robbery Bureau has now assumed control with the suspect still at large, the victim remains in stable condition, police do not, as of now, have any leads on the identity of the assailant.
