The Marietta History Center is amping up the usual family fun day with a cultural twist for Black History Month. Come February 17, the Center will be brimming from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with activities dedicated to celebrating African American history. Excitement is in the air as the community will get to partake in a variety of interactive experiences – all without spending a dime.
As posted on the City of Marietta Facebook page, the event is scheduled to occur on the 3rd Saturday of the month, which the Center marks with its monthly Pop-In event. This time, they are inviting families to dive into not just any old activities, but those highlighting the contributions and legacy of African Americans. Special features include a storytime with authors Rosalind & Maggie Bunn and a chance to experience the Georgia Room at the Cobb Library.
Parents can heighten their little ones' understanding of a crucial chapter in history while enjoying some quality time crafting and learning. "All Aboard, Georgia!" authors Rosalind and Maggie Bunn will enchant kids with their stories from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a special storytime session at 11:15 a.m. The Cobb Library's Georgia Room will stay open throughout the day for a deep dive into local history, and while details are still under wraps, the House of Rabbits Society of Georgia promises to bring in a unique "Bunny Experience."
Located at 1 Depot Street in Marietta, the History Center is known for its engaging, family-friendly events. With admission being free—courtesy of the local law firm Cauthorn, Nohr, and Sanders—all are welcome to explore, learn, and appreciate the richness of Black heritage in the heart of Marietta, GA. This isn't an event to miss, especially for families looking to enrich their weekend with a touch of education and fun.
