Miami's furry residents are about to get a shot at love. According to Miami-Dade County Animal Services, which is hosting a special adoption event this Saturday. The "Find the Love of Your Life" event, set to take place on February 17 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Medley facility, aims to match dogs in need with forever homes. With a waived adoption fee for dogs aged four months and older, Animal Services is hoping to ease the shelter's overpopulation issue.

Annette Jose, the Animal Services Director, emphasized the significance of the event. "Join us at our Find the Love of Your Life adoption event at the Medley facility. This is more than an adoption event; it’s a chance to discover the perfect companion that will bring joy and love into your life," Jose said in a statement obtained by Miami-Dade's official website. Participants, besides finding a new four-legged friend, will also receive a goody bag with essentials like a leash and collar. However, adopters will be responsible for a $30 tag fee.

The event is also recognized as a response to the pressing issue of dogs requiring quarantine or medical care taking shelter primarily due to species overpopulation, as stated by D-Cuba. Satellite Adoption Centers across Miami-Dade are also celebrating the event, with special pricing honored for adoptions.

For individuals ready to welcome a new pet into theirfamily, information is available at the Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department’s website or by contacting them via Instagram at @adoptmiamipets. Satellite Adoption Centers are located throughout the county where prospective adopters can fetch a pet. Cats and dogs are available for adoption in South Miami, while other locations such as West Kendall and Doral serve as cat-exclusive adoption spots.
