As Chicago gears up to celebrate Washington's Birthday, the city can expect some fairly mild weather conditions throughout the week. In a forecast released by the National Weather Service, city dwellers are promised mostly sunny skies with a high near 46 degrees on the holiday, followed by a low around 30 degrees tonight. The calm will be stirred by a south wind circling 5 mph, with evening gusts hitting possibly 15 mph.
The rest of the week continues along the same placid lines with sunny skies pegged for Tuesday, wrapping around a high near 50 degrees, while the night's atmosphere folds increasing clouds over a low around 37 degrees. Despite these pleasant predictions, pockets of dense freezing fog disrupted the early morning in parts of McHenry, western Lake, & far NW Cook counties, with some slick spots, as noted by a post from NWS Chicago. They also remarked that the week's highs, starting in the 40s and creeping into the 50s by mid-week, stand above typical values for this time of year.
Pockets of dense freezing fog will continue through roughly 10 AM across parts McHenry, western Lake, & far NW Cook counties. Temperatures are in the low-mid 20s as well, so be on the lookout for slick spots. Here's a webcam image from near Volo, IL in western Lake County: pic.twitter.com/CVZ4Z2bY0J
