A Minneapolis man is set to trade a decade of freedom for a cell after a federal judge sentenced him to 10 years for running a cocaine ring. Luis Fernando Cervantes, 37, will also face five years of supervised release once his time behind bars is up, according to U.S. Attorney Attorney's Office.
The collar followed a raid on Cervantes' place back on April 11, 2023, where cops discovered a whopping seven kilos of cocaine and a gun, the U.S. Attorney's Office reported. Helped by the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, the feds got their man who was sent up the river by Judge Michael J. Davis in U.S. District Court on February 7th.

In the mayhem, confessed drug lord Cervantes pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute cocaine as the net closed in on October 18, 2023. Knotted up in legal machinations until the gavel finally banged, signaling a decade-long stretch in the big house.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Campbell Warner was the lead prosecutor on this case which saw the Drug Enforcement Agency backing up local law enforcement in putting Cervantes away.
