
A brutal collision between a Ford F-150 and a Yamaha motorcycle on Sixth Avenue in Hillcrest has left a man with serious injuries, San Diego police reported. The incident, which occurred mid-block as the truck driver attempted an ill-advised turn into a parking garage, saw the motorcyclist suffer multiple fractures, including a grisly open wrist fracture.
The crash occurred on February 19 at 6:32 PM, according to the San Diego Police Department Watch Commander's Log, the 44-year-old motorcycle enthusiast was heading south when the 31-year-old in the truck failed to yield. Traffic units are now piecing together the aftermath, and a call has been put out for any eyewitnesses to step forward.
Officer S. Foster of the San Diego Police Department stated, "Anyone with information related to the above incident(s) is encouraged to call the listed Command handling the investigation or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477." The investigation continues as the motorcyclist receives medical treatment at a local hospital for injuries that are considered serious but not life-threatening.
Traffic in the Hillcrest neighborhood was snarled as units responded to the scene. The statement by Officer David Surwilo, Community Relations Officer for the Western Division, urged the public's cooperation.
