A New Lenox man is now facing felony charges after a police raid on his home unearthed alleged child pornography along with a hidden camera used to unlawfully record family members. Timothy Mol, 45, was busted Wednesday when police, in conjunction with the Department of Homeland Security and Cook County Sheriff’s Police, searched his home at the 800 block of Southgate Road, as reported by Patch.
Initiated by a tip-off in late 2023 that referred to child porn being downloaded via a mobile app, the ensuing investigation came to a head with the seizure of incriminating digital evidence among Mol’s possessions, law enforcement sources revealed a lead suggesting that a New Lenox man was engaged in the illegal downloading; the search operation materialized months after the initial clue was unearthed. Country Herald notes that the local police department spearheaded the probe into the illegal activities.
Mol is charged with one count of possession of child pornography, considered a Class 1 felony, and one count of unauthorized video recording, a Class 3 felony. He is currently held at the Will County Adult Detention Facility waiting for a pre-trial detention hearing slated for Thursday.
More trouble may be brewing for Mol as the investigation continues, suggesting that he could face additional charges, this being a situation already fraught with the grim hues of illicit doings, casting a shadow over the 800 Southgate Road residence where once trust presumably dwelled, things took a darker turn with the uncovering of a bathroom camera hidden out of sight, according to police, recording those who were presumably oblivious to its watchful eye.
