
Portland residents, brace yourselves for a chilly commute. The Portland Bureau of Transportation is on high alert, warning folks of possible snowflakes across the cityscape as early as tonight and into Thursday morning. This winter surprise comes packed with the potential for treacherous travel conditions, making the rush hour more like a cautious crawl.
According to PBOT, there's a 50 percent shot, including those parts that are right at sea level, which don't usually get as much. The stakes are higher on the West Hills and east of Interstate 205, where residents might wake up to three inches of snow underfoot. As for the winds, early Thursday morning through the weekend with gusts potentially raising 40 mph.
Snow decides to show up early at 4 p.m., But if it's more of a late-night arrival, closer to 8 p.m.
Downed trees and power lines are on the cards, and with it, the threat of power outages across the area. So while the snow might look pretty resting on the branches, remember it's heavy – and it's wet.
