Parents and students expressed their experiences, highlighting the school's atmosphere as dangerous and plagued by threats and violence. "I was thinking, what if my child is alive, or dead?" a tearful mother shared during the community meeting, as reported by 11Alive. The presence of guns and frequent fights at the school were also mentioned, emphasizing the urgency for change.
At the town hall, suggestions on how to bolster safety poured in. The school board member Hutchins has been contemplating the use of emerging technology to detect weapons at large school events. Hutchins stated, "There's technology out there that we don't have to pull the trigger, and make a school look like a prison and have metal detectors," during the conversation with parents, as chronicled by FOX 5 Atlanta.
However, the meeting escalated when attendees criticized McEachern's principal and staff for allowing "chaos" to reign on campus. The audience voiced their disapproval by booing an administrator from the Superintendent’s office, who declined to comment on the principal's role in the matter. "We know what the issue is, now we need to come together as parents, as a community, to support the school and ultimately keep our kids safe," Deleen Adams said to FOX 5 Atlanta.

Charlise Ivy, a parent with two children enrolled at the school, summarized the sentiment, "When I send them off to school, I want to make sure that they get home safely.... I need to hear what’s the action, what are we going to do to make it safe for all of our kids out here," she expressed to 11Alive.
