Quincy locals were left shaken as police reported a breaking and entering incident on Shea Street in the Quincy Point area. The Quincy Police Department, on the lookout for three suspects spotted leaving a residence, managed to apprehend one male suspect who was found in possession of a credit card stolen from the home. According to the Quincy Police Department on Facebook, the bust occurred on January 27.
In the aftermath of the event, Officer Paul Matthews was dispatched to the scene following a call from a concerned neighbor, witnessing the trio's suspicious departure. Carrying out a diligent canvas, Sergeant Dan Flaherty and Officer Ryan Donnelly swiftly located two individuals matching the provided descriptions, lurking in the 600 block of Washington Street. Meanwhile, Matthews gathered details that would bolster their search.
The officers’ probe zeroed in on a suspect who was caught red-handed with the victim’s credit card, clearly marked with her name. The female companion, after thorough questioning by the police, was deemed uninvolved in the illegal entry and subsequently released. The police communicated these developments in a statement, shedding light on the course of action taken during the tense moments of citizen policing.
Following the suspects’ detention, the male was placed under arrest on charges of Breaking and Entering in the Day Time with Intent to Commit a Felony and Larceny of a Credit Card. The arrest was part of a concerted effort by Quincy Police to clamp down on neighborhood crime. The female was sent on her way, found clean of participation in the event. Officer Leuchte transported the male suspect to police headquarters where Sergeant Jennifer Tapper processed his booking.
