A watchful eye by San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office deputies led to the capture of an alleged car burglar on Friday in Portola Valley. According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies on patrol spotted a man peering into vehicles at Windy Hill parking lot around 11 a.m., in what appeared to be a deja-vu of past auto burglaries at the same location.

Upon making contact, it turned out that the suspicious individual, Jeiner Ocampo Quintero, 39, of San Francisco, matched the description of a prior suspect and was also found carrying a set of burglary tools, which could have been key to his undoing.

The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office indicated in a statement that Quintero was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility on charges that included auto burglary, tampering with a vehicle, and possession of burglary tools following his arrest.

Those in the community who may possess additional details about the case have been urged to come forward. Deputy Moreno, leading the case, can be reached directly, while anonymous tips are welcomed through the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office Anonymous Tip Line.
