According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the incident involving Zion occurred on school property during a bus ride home from Chapel Hill High School. Zion's mother, Felicia Carrington, outraged and emotional, stated, "My son, he didn’t deserve that ... he’s a good kid, he did not deserve that." The assailants reportedly beat him with a belt buckle and spat on him. Horrifically, Carrington had to witness parts of her son's attack in videos posted to social media.
In a similar display of school bus violence, the New York Post reported on a 9-year-old girl from Coconut Palm K-8 Academy in Homestead, Florida, being relentlessly attacked by two male classmates. Alarmingly, no adult intervened throughout the 30-second ordeal recorded by a peer. The victim's mother told Local 10 her plans to press criminal charges and highlighted the school's inability to manage spiraling violence, a concern that prompted recommendations for her to change her children's school.
The father of the young Florida girl expressed his anger on social media. He is planning protests against what he describes as a flagrantly insecure environment, demanding, "The bullying must stop!!!" The Miami-Dade Schools Police have since apprehended the offenders involved in the incident. They issued a statement emphasizing the district's commitment to student safety and well-being, urging parents to reinforce values of restraint and respect at home.
Back in Douglas County, school officials have begun an investigation into the attack on Zion Carrington, vowing that "the safety and well-being of our students will always be our top priority."
