In a recent visit to AVIVO Village, a transitional housing facility in Minneapolis, State Rep. Samantha Sencer-Mura discussed potential strategies for supporting and expanding their low-barrier shelter model into South Minneapolis. During her tour, she evaluated AVIVO Village's unique approach to tackling homelessness by providing not just shelter but also treatment options and harm reduction services for residents.
The facility has been recognized for offering more than just a temporary roof over the heads of those in need. Offering a critical lifeline, AVIVO Village integrates crucial services intended to assist individuals in their transition to more stable living conditions. A preview of the dialogue between the facility's representatives and Sencer-Mura was shared, in which "the different ways we could support their model and expand to South Minneapolis" was the central topic of discussion, according to Jason Chavez - Minneapolis Ward 9.
