
A 16-year-old boy lies in critical condition following a Tuesday evening shooting on Chicago’s troubled South Side, plummeting the Auburn Gresham neighborhood into the headlines yet again. The teenager was discovered with a gunshot wound to his left leg sprawled across the sidewalk in the 700 block of West 81st Street, ABC7 Chicago reports.
The boy's identity has not been released, and as of now, the shooter remains unknown. No one has been taken into custody. The incident occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m., and the wounded teen received prompt medical attention and was transported to Comer Children's Hospital.
The Chicago Sun-Times also covered the tragic incident, corroborating the early details and adding that the boy's condition upon arrival at the hospital was listed as critical. Detectives from Area Two are spearheading the investigation.
