In the Gwinnett County neighborhood, three people were fatally shot in a double murder-suicide at a Snellville apartment complex, as reported by FOX 5. Police identified the deceased as 27-year-old Frank Wilburn Jr., 52-year-old Corey Jones, and 56-year-old Dana Farmer. According to the authorities, the violent incident took place at the View at Jacks Creek apartments around 1 a.m. Tuesday.
The 11 Alive report suggests a domestic disturbance gone fatally awry. Wilburn reportedly opened fire, mortally injuring Corey Jones and Dana Farmer, as well as 29-year-old Rosella Jones, who miraculously survived and is currently recovering in the hospital. In a chilling turn to the events, Wilburn turned the gun on himself, concluding the violence.
A 2-month-old baby and a 46-year-old woman emerged unscathed. They were found safe at the crime scene. Officials are still piecing together the events that led to the murder-suicide, but it is believed that the shooter, Wilburn, and the surviving victim, Rosella Jones, were in a relationship and amidst a divorce proceeding. It has been reported that they were scheduled to appear in court later on Tuesday, the day of the shooting.
Gwinnett County Police Department continues its investigation. They urge anyone with information to step forward and contact the GCPD detectives at (770) 513-5300 or contribute anonymously through the Crime Stoppers tip line at (404) 577-8477.
