
Tragedy struck a quiet Chicago neighborhood as police uncovered a grisly scene inside an Avalon Park residence where two people were found dead in what looks to be a murder-suicide. According to the Chicago Tribune, law enforcement discovered the bodies of a 50-year-old woman, who suffered multiple stab wounds, and a 49-year-old man with a fatal gunshot wound to the head on Friday afternoon.
The two were found unresponsive at a home located on the 8100 block of South Cornell Avenue, around 2 p.m., the woman was identified as Tomica Goodwin of Avalon Park. The Cook County medical examiner has yet to release the man’s identity, autopsies are scheduled for the following Saturday. Investigators have yet to confirm the sequence of events leading up to the deaths.
The WGN-TV reports that police say both victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Details regarding the motive or the events that transpired within the walls of the residence are still shrouded in mystery. Authorities have called on the public, anyone with information that could help piece together this grim puzzle is encouraged to come forward and aid in the ongoing investigation.
