Two individuals have found themselves on the wrong side of the law after allegedly robbing a 25-year-old woman at gunpoint in Chicago. The suspects, identified as Joseph Tadla, 24, and Araceli Granda Brito, 21, were nabbed by police and are now facing multiple charges, including felony robbery counts.
According to the Chicago Police Department, Tadla and Brito ambushed the victim in the 5300 block of S. Kilbourn Ave., making off with her possessions; the brazen act took place at around 7:40 p.m. on February 1, 2024. The duo was apprehended the following day after being identified as the perpetrators, their capture coming after a pursuit that came to a head in the 1100 block of S. Pulaski Rd.
In the course of the arrest, authorities found and seized a pellet gun from Tadla, which has led to a citation for replica firearms in addition to his felony charges for armed robbery and controlled substance possession. Brito, his accomplice, is also looking at a hefty rap sheet; she is charged with one felony count of robbery and three counts pertaining to drug possession.
Their case is taking a serious turn with a scheduled detention hearing at 2600 S. California on February 6, 2024; the court proceedings come hand-in-hand with an ongoing investigation, leaving many questions unanswered but making clear the gravity of the accusations, along with signaling the intention of the criminal justice system to hold them accountable if found guilty of their alleged actions.
