A Vacaville man found himself in cuffs after an audacious daytime theft landed him directly in the path of local law enforcement. According to a post by the American Canyon Police Department, 29-year-old Daniel Subia III was caught throwing car parts over the fence of the Pick-N-Pull salvage yard on February 15, before making his getaway southward on Highway 29.
But fate was not on Subia's side as he happened to turn onto Donaldson Way, not realizing he was driving straight towards the waiting arms of the American Canyon officers. In a slice of luck for the cops, and an unfortunate misstep for the suspect, Subia was detained by the police department doorstep. During the subsequent search of Subia's vehicle, officers reportedly found not just the stolen car parts but also an unserialized loaded pistol alongside suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine.
In a swift response to the theft report, officers recovered the stolen goods and ensured they were returned to their rightful place at Pick-N-Pull. The incident underscores the ongoing issues around theft and substance abuse that plague communities, bringing into stark relief the work that still needs to be done.
After the discovery, Subia was booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections, facing charges beyond a simple property crime. The presence of the unregistered firearm and illegal drugs seemingly add a more severe dimension to his legal troubles.
