The Waxahachie Police Department has teamed up with Special Olympics Ellis County United to host the 2024 Polar Plunge, aiming to raise funds for local athletes. Brave souls will take the plunge into the icy waters on February 25th, at the Waxahachie YMCA pool, in a show of support for individuals with intellectual disabilities, according to the Waxahachie Police Department.
Participants have a variety of ways to get involved, from forming or joining a team to volunteering. Making a donation to a team or embracing the chill themselves are also options for the community members. The event is scheduled for 2:00 pm, allowing the bravest supporters of the Special Olympics to make a splash in the season's most invigorating fundraiser.
Funds raised from the event will directly benefit schools and athletes in Ellis County, providing much-needed resources for training, competitions, and overall support. As an act of solidarity and community engagement, the officers and volunteers seek to garner as much support as possible for these inspiring athletes.
