An early morning dispute in Chicago's Southwest Side took a dangerous turn when a woman, reported to be a concealed carry license (CCL) holder, shot a 41-year-old man during a physical confrontation. The incident occurred in a parking lot located at the 4700 block of West 47th Street just before 1:45 a.m., according to the Chicago Tribune.
The altercation involved two women and the injured man, who sustained a gunshot wound to his armpit; he was subsequently rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital where he remains in critical condition. Following the incident, the shooter—a CCL holder—drove herself to the police station for questioning. Police have not released the names of those involved as the investigation by Area One detectives is underway, a detail echoed by FOX 32 Chicago.
No charges have been filed at the time of reporting, and police are continuing to piece together the circumstances that led to the shooting. The exact nature of the argument and the sequence of events that unfolded in the Archer Heights parking lot remain unclear, with authorities gathering evidence and seeking witness accounts.
