An 18-year-old has succumbed to his injuries following a stabbing incident in a Glendale neighborhood. The victim, identified as Daniel James Santiago, was attacked on the morning of March 15 near the crossroads of 67th and Maryland Avenues.
According to FOX 10 Phoenix, Glendale Police officers were dispatched to a residence where they encountered Santiago with life-threatening stab wounds. He was promptly transported to a hospital but was pronounced dead there. A suspect, now in custody, was apprehended after a witness described him fleeing the scene on foot.
The suspect, 20-year-old Robert Leo Williams, faces charges of second-degree murder after being booked into jail. In a statement obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix, police have confirmed that there is no further threat to the community as "there is no one outstanding, everyone is accounted for, and there are no significant road closures or impact to neighboring businesses." Authorities have assured the public of safety in the area, though advising of a continued police presence for several hours following the incident.
