A deadly car accident occurred early Saturday morning in Tigard, leaving two people dead and another critically injured, according to local police. The collision, involving a Nissan Altima and a GMC Terrain, took place at 6:20 a.m. at the intersection of SW Roy Rogers Road and Perth Road.

The Altima, after the impact, rolled and was engulfed in flames, OregonLive reported. Firefighters from Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue responded to the scene and discovered the vehicle overturned. Amid the chaos, they managed to extinguish the fire and extract the victims.

Tigard Police indicated that the Altima's driver and a rear passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the front seat of the Altima survived but is in critical condition. KATU News notes that the driver of the GMC was transported to a hospital with injuries believed to be life-threatening.

KGW added that emergency crews were called to the crash site, located on Southwest Roy Rogers Road and Potomac Road. The front seat passenger, having survived the fiery crash, was rushed to the hospital by ambulance, while police described the scene as "very chaotic" after their arrival.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the deceased or the injured. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation, with no further details available about the circumstances leading up to the collision. The intersection was closed for several hours as investigators worked the scene, but it has since been reopened.
