Chicago's North Side businesses were hit with a string of armed robberies early Tuesday morning. The Chicago Police Department reported that four separate incidents occurred within a 40-minute window, with firearms brandished in each crime but fortunately resulting in no injuries. Witnesses observed a light blue sedan, potentially an Infiniti, speeding away from at least two of the scenes, according to WGN-TV.
The robbery spree began at about 4:07 a.m. in the 2400 block of North Milwaukee Avenue where a group of suspects assaulted a storefront, coercing money from the cash register and stripping property from two men, ages 27 and 40. Then at 4:27 a.m., a similar scenario unfolded in the 2300 block of North Damen Avenue. Here, a 7-Eleven witnessed a disturbingly akin instance where three to four men entered the business, demanded the register's contents, and filched personal items from two men. Police said that the culprits escaped in a blue sedan, as per CBS Chicago.
Following close on the heels of the prior robberies, at 4:38 a.m., another business in the 1100 block of West Diversey was targeted. The bandits attempted to rob a 60-year-old man inside the business; however, no money was taken from the establishment itself. Moments later, at 4:40 a.m., just two minutes apart and in the 2000 block of North Halsted, a similar narrative played out as an unknown amount of money was seized and a 60-year-old man was victimized inside a business before the thieves fled, as reported by WGN-TV.
Authorities have yet to apprehend any suspects and are calling for the public's assistance. No one is in custody and those with information are urged to leave an anonymous tip at cpdtip.com. T
