The guard, while engaged in a scuffle with the assailant, managed to disarm the criminal and return fire, striking the suspect in the head. Both men were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive their injuries.
The dangerous exchange took place at approximately 6:00 am at 3208 MLK JR. Dr., according to Atlanta PD's official release, stated that the security guard was performing his duties when the suspect entered the store and brandished a firearm, leading to the struggle and subsequent shooting, the suspect fled the scene but later sought medical assistance and contacted authorities regarding his gunshot wound to the head.
Investigators link this incident to a later call about another shooting at 242 Napoleon Dr, where they discovered the injured suspect, this connection was made after the injured suspect at Napoleon Dr. called 911 and subsequent probes tied him to the altercation at MLK JR. Dr., the Atlanta Police Department's preliminary probe suggests a direct tie between the two violent episodes.
