A 25-year-old man, Mackenley Pierre, who was wanted by federal authorities for allegations of armed robbery and carjacking in Atlanta, was apprehended in Powder Springs, Cobb County police reported. The arrest took place near Hopkins Road on Saturday night following a manhunt by local law enforcement.
According to FOX 5 Atlanta, Pierre faced federal alcohol, tobacco and firearm charges, and the details surrounding his alleged criminal activities have not been made available to the public, Powder Springs officials got the call to swoop in on the area of Hopkins Road on Friday night which set the stage for Pierre's capture, however, the specifics of his alleged crimes have been closely guarded.
In a coordinated effort, various divisions within the Powder Springs Police Department, including the Criminal Investigation Division, the Crime Suppression Unit, and the Uniform Patrol Division, pooled their resources and successfully detained the suspect. While his whereabouts and activities prior to the arrest remain unclear, law enforcement no doubt will view this as a significant notch in their belts.
