The unsolved murder of Sally Tullos, a 33-year-old woman killed in 1983, continues to puzzle the Austin Police Department (APD), KVUE reports. Her body was found partially concealed by brush and it appeared she had been assaulted, confirmed by Detective Zachary Baldridge of the APD. Despite questioning multiple individuals over the years, no arrests have been made in connection to Tullos' murder.
In a separate case, the APD announced they had found a suspect in a decades-old murder case. However, tragedy struck as the suspect in the 1994 killing of Burt Allen Mann, committed suicide shortly after being contacted by detectives. Kenneth Wayne Robbins, who had been identified through DNA evidence as the assailant, was found dead in his truck in Weatherford, Texas, according to The Austin Chronicle.
Sgt. Melanie Rodriguez expressed her gratitude for the investigative team's dedication: "I would like to personally thank [the detectives] for their dedication and their perseverance to getting an answer for this family." Despite closure on the suspect's identity, the victim's family is left with unanswered questions regarding the motive behind Mann's murder.
Tullos' case, however, remains open, with Detective Baldridge acknowledging the historical context, "The year 1983 was around the time when Austin had a Barton Creek rapist." as per KVUE report. The man was believed to have been connected to several sexual assaults, yet his identity and any connection to Tullos' murder are still unknown. APD continues its appeal for information from the public, hoping for a break in Tullos' case that has eluded them for over four decades.
