A grim chapter is seemingly closing as Austin Police Department (APD) detectives crack down on the suspects of a brutal home invasion from last year. Per the official announcement, the APD has apprehended three men tied to an armed robbery that took place on October 29, 2023, leaving two individuals critically injured. The early morning break-in at Henry Heights Apartments on Metric Boulevard turned violent when the suspects brandished weapons, forcing entry and causing the residents to desperately and dangerously escape through a window.
The aggression not only irreparably ruptured the sanctity of a home but also led the victims to sustain serious injuries that necessitated urgent hospitalization. APD was quick to respond, arriving on the scene to find chilling trails of blood marking the path of the crime. Early indications suggest the victims tried to desperately escape the armed invasion, their attempts to flee the scene leading to their severe injuries. Footage from a doorbell camera swiftly became a key piece of evidence, presumably sealing the fate of the three suspects now in custody for the violent episode.
Of the men charged, Abraham Rodriguez, a 31-year-old already behind bars, is facing two counts of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of a controlled substance. Isaac Lee Trevino, age 18, was in custody on unrelated drug charges when he was charged for the robbery. Lastly, Corbrie Tyrek Hemphill, also 18, was recently arrested on March 7 and faces two counts of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.
Yet, this case is not fully closed, with one suspect managing to still evade capture. APD describes him as a Hispanic male in his 20s or early 30s, heavy-set, with long hair usually worn up in a bun. The public's assistance is solicited to finally bring this individual to justice. The APD asks anyone with information to come forward, offering up to $1,000 for tips leading to an arrest – a sum that could help to slowly mend the profound breach of peace experienced by the victims and the community.
