A Dorchester man was cuffed Friday on a slew of firearm charges in connection to a shooting incident earlier in the week, according to Boston Police. Irvin Woods, a 27-year-old local, faces charges for illegal possession of a firearm and ammo, driving without a license, and having an open alcohol container.
Woods, who was already on law enforcement's radar with a warrant in Dorchester District Court, got tagged by detectives due to his alleged tie-in with a previous shooting. He's expected to stand in front of the beak at the local courthouse, the Boston police department reported on their official website.
The incident triggering the arrest unfolded March 24 around 9:07 PM. Police rushed to the intersection of Dorchester Avenue and Ashmont Street after calls rolled in about gunfire. Officers found an adult male bleeding from multiple bullet wounds, and he was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries. While no update on his condition was included in the report, two shot spotter activations pinpointed the location at 567 Talbot Avenue, shortly before the man was discovered, according to the Boston Police Department.
The Boston Police Department's swift action led to Woods' apprehension just five days after the reported shooting. The investigation, however, continues as detectives peel back the layers of the case. Any potential witnesses, or individuals with insights into the shooting, are encouraged to step forward and contribute to the ongoing pursuit of justice.
