In a move to further bridge the gap between law enforcement and local youth, Boston Police Department's Community Service Officers from District D-4 recently made an appearance at the Hurley School's "Show us what you Know" event in the South End. The officers were there to mix and mingle, taking a proactive approach to positively engage with the community they serve.
The Boston Police Department reported that during their visit, officers were able to quickly connect with the kids, answering questions about their roles as guardians of the peace and even finding time to shoot some hoops—an activity that no doubt served to casually break down some barriers. The event aimed to go beyond mere show and tell, to genuinely foster a sense of understanding and camaraderie between the police and the younger residents.
