Calling all Buckeye-area teens looking to make a difference and step up as future leaders. The Buckeye Youth Council (BYC) is now accepting applications, offering local youth a chance to hone their skills in leadership and civic engagement. This initiative is aimed to not only build character but to also provide a platform for the younger generation to voice out their concerns and actively participate in community development.
Participants in the BYC program will get to actively involve themselves in a variety of initiatives, including spearheading projects, engaging in volunteer work, and networking with influential figures. This program isn't just about padding a college application; it's about empowering teens to quickly learn to navigate and effect change within their social and political environments. According to an announcement on the Buckeye city website, members will have opportunities to "attend several conferences throughout the year, network with local officials, business leaders and other youth council members from neighboring cities."
Amidst an era where young voices are increasingly pivotal in shaping the future, the BYC stands out as a beacon of opportunity. Teens from 8th through 12th grade who reside in Buckeye are eligible to apply for the 2024-2025 school year. However, a commitment to show up to monthly meetings and complete a minimum of 10 volunteer hours is mandatory for all members.
