In an unusual turn of events, a car took a nosedive into the swimming pool of a Southwest Miami-Dade apartment complex early Saturday morning. Authorities including Miami-Dade Police and Fire Rescue were called to the scene near the 26400 block of Southwest 146th Court after the submerged vehicle was discovered around 7 a.m., as reported by WSVN.
First responders arrived to find an empty car in the pool, and it was confirmed that there were no passengers inside at the time of the strange accident and, fortunately, no injuries were reported. The circumstances leading up to the vehicle's unintended aquatic plunge remain unclear as authorities have not yet released details on how the car ended up in the pool. This incident left residents of the apartment complex bewildered but unharmed.
While the investigation into the crash continues, the cleanup and removal of the vehicle from the pool proceeded without further incident. Witnesses did not report seeing the driver or any occupants fleeing the scene, indicating that the car may have rolled into water on its own. There has been no information released about the owner of the car or whether any property has been damaged aside from to the swimming pool.
Local news outlet CBS Miami also covered the story, adding that the unexpected pool crash caused quite a stir among the apartment complex residents on an otherwise ordinary weekend morning. As of now, Miami-Dade Police are asking anyone with information to come forward as they attempt to unravel the mystery of the driverless dive into the swimming pool, and assure the community that an investigation is actively underway.
