Chandler has tapped a veteran officer from Phoenix to serve as its new chief of police, city officials announced Tuesday. Bryan Chapman is set to take the reins of the Chandler Police Department on April 8, stepping into a role left vacant by the retirement of former Chief Sean Duggan in January.
With 28 years of experience in law enforcement, Chapman is no stranger to the rigors and responsibilities of maintaining public safety. Most recently, he held the title of Assistant Police Chief in Phoenix, overseeing the Employment Services Bureau, Training Bureau, and Organizational Integrity Bureau, "I am excited to welcome Chief Chapman as our new police chief to build upon our culture of service, innovation, and engagement that prevents crime and earns community trust," Chandler City Manager Josh Wright said, according to Chandler, Arizona.
The new chief's accolades include graduating from the Senior Management Institute for Policing and completing of the Certified Public Manager program at Arizona State University, alongside a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Toledo. "I am honored to join Team Chandler and work alongside the incredible men and, women of the Chandler Police Department," Chapman said in a statement, highlighting his commitment to collaboration and continual improvement within the force to maintain the city's safety.
In the search for Duggan's successor, Chandler conducted a sweeping national recruitment effort, reviewing over 40 candidates with the assistance of executive recruitment firm, Mosaic Public Partners. Chapman's selection comes amid reports of Chandler Police's sterling reputation, marked by a historic downturn in serious crime and the department's consistent accreditation for excellence in policing since 1996, as per Chandler, Arizona.
