A man has been slapped with a felony robbery charge after allegedly strong-arming a woman and swiping her possessions earlier this month, Chicago police said Wednesday.
Jose Salvador Garcia, 26, was cuffed on March 5, in connection with a theft that occurred on the 600 block of W. Cermak, according to a statement from the Chicago Police Department. Charged with one felony count of robbery, Garcia is accused of taking personal belongings from a 31-year-old female victim on March 3. The location of the incident, now drenched in the unwanted spotlight of crime, happens to lie within the jurisdiction of the 12th District.
The arrest took place the following Tuesday, in the 500 block of the same street where the alleged robbery took place. Garcia was identified as the offender, leading to his prompt detention. The case is progressing to a detention hearing at 2600 S. California today.
