Chicago Police Seek Driver After Fatal Hit-and-Run Involving Pedestrian on Marquette RdSource: Google Street View

In a harrowing hit-and-run incident, Chicago Police are on the hunt for a driver who struck down a pedestrian and fled the scene without a backward glance. The Chicago Police Department issued a community alert detailing the fatal crash that occurred in the early hours of Sunday, March 03, 2024.

The vehicle in question, a dark SUV, possibly of the make 2020-2024 Audi Q6 or a Volkswagen Atlas / Cross Sport was last seen going westbound on Marquette Rd in the 3100 block. At around 1:48 a.m., it slammed into an unsuspecting male pedestrian who was at the time in the roadway. The driver then continued cruising westward, leaving the victim helplessly injured on the pavement.

Authorities have yet to identify the victim, who is described as a Male Hispanic, standing between 5'08" and 5'10", and weighing approximately 130-150 pounds. He is estimated to be within the age range of 20 to 30 years. The Chicago Police Department's Major Accident Investigation Unit is vigorously working on the case and pleading with the public to come forward with any information that could lead to an arrest.

Law enforcement is asking anyone with information about the dark-colored SUV or the whereabouts of its driver to get in touch immediately.

CPD has appealed to both witnesses and anyone possessing surveillance footage in the vicinity of the 3100 block of West Marquette Rd to aid in identifying the suspect. Those who have information are encouraged to contact the Major Accident Investigation Unit at (312) 745-4521.
