Fairview Heights' own, U.S. Attorney Rachelle Aud Crowe, has been tapped for a prestigious advisory role in the nation's capital. Crowe will serve on the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee (AGAC), a decision announced by Attorney General Merrick B. Garland.
Embodying a sense of duty and pride, Crowe said, "I'm deeply honored to be selected by Attorney General Garland to serve on the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee." She added, "I appreciate the opportunity to learn from, and serve alongside my fellow AGAC members as we work to advise the Attorney General and the Department of Justice’s leadership." This information comes according to a statement from the Department of Justice.
AGAC, established back in the Disco era of 1973, gives counsel to the Attorney General on a broad range of topics, including policy and procedural affairs significant for the U.S. Attorneys' offices. Crowe's appointment holds particular significance as it marks the first time the Southern District of Illinois has had representation on the committee since its inception.
Crowe, who took office on June 21, 2022, serves as the chief federal law enforcement officer in the Southern District of Illinois. Her new role on the AGAC spotlights the district and ensures that their perspectives are folded into national conversations about justice, policy, and the law.
