The Austin Police Department confirmed that the individual who died in the crash was indeed a man, without releasing further details on the identities involved or the cause of the crash. As per the KXAN News account, the collision may have involved multiple vehicles.
While the investigation ensued, all lanes of westbound Highway 290 were obstructed up to 8:07 a.m., the Austin Police Department said, adding to delays and suggesting motorists to seek alternate routes. The proximity of the fatal scene to the Big Walnut Creek Nature Preserve did little to alleviate the heavy congestion spurred by the blocked lanes.
