
A fatal collision claimed the life of a wrong-way driver on a Phoenix freeway late Sunday night. The incident occurred when a vehicle entered the U.S. 60 ramp improperly and collided with another car, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
The accident happened just before 11 p.m., the car was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of the U.S. 60 ramp that leads to Interstate 10 and resulted in the death of the errant driver at the scene, 12 News reported. The identity of the deceased has not been released by authorities as the investigation into the crash continues.
Meanwhile, the passengers of the car struck by the wrong-way driver were taken to a local hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. They have since been discharged. Further details regarding their condition or the extent of their injuries have not been disclosed.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety has not yet shared additional information about the cause of the accident or the factors that led up to it, with the investigation still underway.
