Glendale, CA just flipped the switch on environmental change as it becomes the largest city to completely cut the cord on gas-powered landscape equipment, The City of Glendale in association with the American Green Zone Alliance (AGZA) is set to hold a press conference, celebrating this groundbreaking move toward electric maintenance tools. This eco-friendly achievement signifies the city's dedication to a greener, quieter tomorrow.

During the upcoming event, city officials will elaborate on the journey and challenges of transitioning to electric gadgets in their quest for sustainability. "We recognized the hurdles in this transition, but it was a necessary step towards fulfilling our commitment to environmental stewardship and enhancing the quality of life for our community," Onnig Bulanikian, Glendale’s Community Services and Parks Director, told Glendale's News. The city's mayor, Dan Brotman, also praised the department for their hard work, stating, "I commend our Community Services and Parks Department for spearheading this initiative."

The much-anticipated press conference will be held on Tuesday, March 26, at the Glendale Sports Complex, as the city spotlights its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint. Glendale, also known for its 50 public parks and bustling business sector, is no stranger to enforcing eco-friendly policies; a prohibition on gas-powered leaf blowers was set in motion back in September 2023. The city requires residents to play their part, with an emphasis on phasing out these noisy, emission-heavy tools.

Actions have consequences, as the city's policy on gas-powered leaf blower usage underlines with increasing fines for repeat offenders. Starting with a stern written warning, a $100 administrative fine follows for anyone caught in violation after a 30-day grace period. The second offense will cost violators $200, and a third, a hefty $500 out of their pockets. Residents are encouraged to report any violations to Glendale’s vigilant Code Compliance team at (818) 548-3700.
