An individual's leisurely golf cart ride took a dramatic turn for the worse when the cart plunged off a roughly 20-foot "cliff" in Austin, leaving at least one person in need of medical attention. The accident happened in the vicinity of the 12600 block of River Bend, requiring the services of Austin-Travis County EMS.

According to KXAN, the emergency crews were alerted just after midday. Lake Travis Fire Department was the first to quickly make contact with the accident victim. Initial concerns that a high-angle rescue might be necessary were allayed after it was clarified that the situation did not require this complicated procedure.

Due attention was provided at the scene where the Lake Travis Fire Department and ATCEMS medics worked together to stabilize the injured adult. Following the on-site treatment, the STAR Flight team took over, airlifting the patient to Dell Seton Medical Center. The injuries were described as serious but were not anticipated to be life-threatening.

A further update shared by the Austin-Travis County EMS  confirms STAR Flight's involvement. The detailed tweet announced STAR Flight as the "primary transportation plan" and said they had "arrived on-scene" to take over the care of the adult trauma-alert patient after their ejection off the golf cart.
