Hasbro Children’s Hospital Employee Charged with Video Voyeurism in ProvidenceSource: Google Street View

A veteran Hasbro Children’s Hospital employee has been slapped with video voyeurism charges after being accused of planting a spy camera in a staff bathroom. Jason Baker, 47, was nabbed Wednesday by Providence police officers after a hospital worker discovered the sneaky device tucked inside a USB wall charger, reported the Boston Globe.

Major David Lapatin of the Providence police spilled the details of the case, asserting that their investigation pointed them directly to Baker. He admitted to the sickening act while he was being questioned, the long-time hospital staffer, who hails from Warwick, has been in the employ of the pediatric hospital for over two decades. The unsettling incident occurred in a bathroom off-limits to the public and patients, a spokesperson assured.

Baker’s confession could face him with up to three years behind bars and/or a $5,000 fine under state law. The hospital has since given Baker the boot, ensuring that he can no longer access the facility or any affiliated institutions, officials said, according to the WPRI.

In the wake of the discovery, law enforcement conducted a "completed an exhaustive sweep" of every single restroom within the hospital, coming up empty-handed for any other invasive recording gadgets. “The welfare of our staff is our top priority,” a hospital spokesperson asserted, noting the support being extended to affected employees.

Baker, who's been held since Tuesday, awaits his day in court for a Thursday arraignment. As the investigation presses forward, it’s probable additional charges could rain down on the disgraced former hospital employee.
