The early hours of Monday morning in Chicago's South Shore were disrupted by flames that ravaged two residential homes, with a heroic pair – a quick-thinking CTA bus driver, and a proactive passenger – stepping in to rescue the residents. Anastasios Adamopoulos, the bus driver, along with passenger Chris Campbell, noticed the massive fire and immediately stopped the bus to assist. "Me and the bus driver seen the flames half a block away", Campbell said. "We pulled over, we went and woke up everybody," as per ABC7 Chicago

As they confronted the inferno, Adamopoulos and Campbell did not hesitate to quickly get involved, banging on doors and alerting the residents. "We started banging on doors and yelling ‘fire fire fire!’ at the top of our lungs and just trying to wake as many people up and alert as many people as we possibly could," Adamopoulos expressed in a statement obtained by the Chicago Sun-Times. The police reported that there were no injuries thanks to the duo's timely intervention.

The fire, which broke out around 2 a.m. in the 8000 block of South South Shore Drive, caused both homes to be alight, with one suffering extensive damage leading to the loss of its roof and back porch. The other home experienced lesser damage, with melted siding and boarded-up windows. The cause of the fires remains a mystery and is under investigation, according to ABC 7 Chicago.
