Hollywood, FL was the scene of chaos this morning as police investigated a string of violent incidents that left the community reeling. A woman was found injured and possibly shot in the middle of a roadway, while a gray Mustang was discovered crashed into a tree after a serious accident, and a separate hit-and-run claimed another victim on a scooter, as reported by local sources.
Witnesses near Pembroke Road and South Federal Highway in Hallandale Beach were confronted with a horrific sight when a woman reportedly fell or was thrown from a car, lying facedown on the ground. "Like she tried to take a step and then she fell and collapsed, I stood over her and I just asked if she is ok, I just seen her choking," Lequan Payne told NBC6, who was at the scene attempting to halt traffic to protect the victim.
A crashed silver Mustang with heavy front-end damage complicated matters further. Found near US-1 by Wiley Street, two individuals were seen exiting the vehicle and fleeing, as captured on surveillance footage, as per 7News. The car, a complete wreck, was hauled away around 9 a.m. with all its airbags deployed.
In a shocking twist, a witness recounted the moments before the injured woman was found. "I saw her fall and collapse and that’s when I went over to help her," the witness said, initially thinking the woman was merely choking before realizing the grave reality of her gunshot wound, according to a 7News interview. In the midst of this, another incident occurred: a fatal hit-and-run involving a vehicle and a scooter on Pembroke Road.
The Hallandale Beach and Hollywood Police Departments are leading the investigations with significant perimeters established along east Pembroke Road and up to Monroe Street on portions of US-1, looking for suspects and piecing together these potentially connected events. As of now, details are scant, and authorities urge anyone with information to contact Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS, reiterating the possibility of anonymity and a reward for helpful tips.
