A Kerrville man was caught in a meth bust after a meticulous month-long investigation by the Kerr County Sheriff's Office Special Operations Division, resulting in an uncovering of illegal narcotics and stolen firearms. The raid, which took place on March 7th, targeted a residence located on the 8800 block of Sidney Baker Street North, as confirmed by FOX San Antonio.
Authorities were tight-lipped about the operation, but the details that have seeped through depict a significant blow to local meth distribution. Law enforcement arrested 44-year-old Dustin Lee Walters and reportedly uncovered 50 grams of methamphetamine poised for sale, complete with packaging materials and scales. Officials were also able to track down to rapidly locate and seize one stolen firearm and another with its serial number filed off.
The Kerr County Sheriff's Office was assertive in their stance against drug proliferation. "Our investigators continue to root out drug dealers and distributors of all sizes," said Sheriff Larry Leitha in a statement obtained by FOX San Antonio. "This individual was operating in the middle of Kerrville, with a significant amount of methamphetamine. Our investigators stayed with this case, and once again the results are clear. We will continue our work to disrupt the drug trade in every corner of Kerr County."
Walters, now facing the music, was booked into the Kerr County Jail. He's charged with Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance with a bond fixed at $20,000. The statement from the sheriff's office signals an undoubted commitment to continually monitor and to ultimately cut down on the county's drug problem, as this recent bust underscores their ongoing efforts. The Kerr community, meanwhile, waits to see what will be the next step in this seemingly unending war against drugs and crime on their streets.
