A suspect has been cuffed for a shooting that rocked a Northeast neighborhood in January, officials said. The Metropolitan Police Department nabbed 27-year-old Marcus Martin, accused of opening fire and seriously wounding a person on East Capitol Street, according to authorities.

The incident unfolded on the night of January 11 when cops swarmed the 4200 block after reports of gunfire at about 9:26 p.m., police stumbled onto signs of the shooting but no victim was in sight, later, a person with critical gunshot wounds turned up at a local hospital seeking help.

After an investigation, the Criminal Investigation Division of the MPD issued a warrant for Martin's arrest and, on March 8, the Northeast man was charged with Assault with Intent to Kill as stated in a press release.

Martin, now facing serious time for the violent outburst, could be looking at a long stint behind bars if convicted, shooters shaking the city with their reckless disregard for human life, and Martin now sits in jail awaiting his fate while the victim continues to mend from the life-threatening injuries.
