
A man has been pronounced dead following a shooting incident on Beale Street in Downtown Memphis. Earlier today, Memphis Police Department was called to the scene outside Jerry Lee Lewis’ Cafe and Honky Tonk at 310 Beale Street at around 1:54 a.m., FOX13 Memphis reported, the victim was quickly transported to Regional One Hospital, but despite the urgent medical care he succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased.
The Memphis Police Department stated that the individual shot had been sent to the hospital following the incident, where he later died from the gunshot wounds as documented by Action News 5. In connection with the crime, police have also confirmed the detention of a male suspect whose identity or motive has not been disclosed as the investigation continues.
The circumstances leading to the late-night violence remain unclear, while MPD continues to investigate what escalated to gunfire and tragedy on a street known for its vibrant nightlife and historic blues culture, WREG News Channel 3 has noted the location as a place where music once served as the city's soul now overshadowed by an act of violence that claimed a life and left the local community in anguish.
